Genius Loci (Seemingly Closed)

It seems that this restaurant was renamed to Il Corallone at some point in the last few years. However, currently on Google it is temporarily closed. If you visit Tropea, I would check. I cannot vouch for the food at the new restaurant, however the view is fantastic, especially at sunset as pictured in the cover photo to this post.
Fileja con ‘nduja; you will find a variation of this dish at all the restaurants I recommend and you must rry it at least once! My bet is you will want it more than once…

Hours- Open every day for lunch and dinner in July and August; closed on Tuesdays during other months. Currently (March 2025) it seems they are temporarily closed; however, this is probably seasonal. Check to be sure when you are interested in visiting!

This restaurant was a nice change of scenery as it is located down by the port in Tropea. We sat at a table outside with a lovely sunset over the boats at bay, very romantic. Lovely sunsets and delicious food are delightful motifs running through an experience in Tropea.
Update 2024: This restaurant was featured on the popular Italian show, 4 Ristoranti (a frequent point of reference for my recommended restaurants). This episode was filmed after I visited, and they only placed 3rd out of 4 restaurants in the area. Still, I would recommend booking here if you visit Tropea.

Antipasto- Try some of the ‘crudi’ (raw seafood dishes) on offer!
Primo- Paccheri agli scampi or any seafood pastas
Secondo- Fresh and local fish
Dolci- Tartufo (duh!)

This place offers no frills but delicious seafood. Seriously. The owners are fishermen as well, and we had a very nice conversation with them about it.

This restaurant also offers fresh seafood and no frills. In addition, the pizza was delicious, especially if you want some variation from seafood and pasta. Pinturicchio is located in an alley way in the center of Tropea, but it is one of the most beautiful alley ways I have ever eaten in.
